-Loud banging - This is to increase the suspense and make the audience more inclined to watch the film when it is released
-Crime/murder mystery - This is a typical way Thriller films grab attention as mysteries allow the audience to want to watch it and continue watching it when it is released
-Main actors - The main actors are usually very heroic and shown in the trailer. If these actors are well-known, viewers are more inclined to watch as the actor is more likely to star in well-made films.
-Voice over (deep) - The deepness of the voice over makes the trailer much more mysterious and full of suspense. This is a good factor due to the antagonist usually being thrilling.
-Creepy/exciting/suspenseful - The creepiness of the thrillers allow the trailer to add some of that aspect in it and will make it seem much more exciting to watch when released.
-Editing in time with music - This makes the trailer seem much more professional and 'cool' if the editing is done correctly in time with the soundtrack or sound effects used.
-Big, loud non-diegetic music - Using heavy, loud music in the background will make the thriller much more thrilling and exhilarating, therefore making the audience more inclined to be interested.
-The title - The title is typically used in thrillers and is the complete opposite colour to the background behind so it stands out. The title is used to clearly indicate the film which will be released, otherwise the audience would not know what the thriller is called.
-The studio - The studio (i.e. Warner Bros) is used to give the particular studio credit for the film, and also if the audience know of any other films with the same studio, they will be more inclined to trust the film and watch it when released.
-Date of release - The date of release is typically shown on the thriller trailer to inform the audience when they can watch the film, otherwise the audience will not know when they are able to.
-Iconography - Not in trailer
-Credit block -The credit block is used to inform the audience of actors featured in the film.
I have researched these conventions so that my thriller opening does not include the majority of these conventions. This is because I am aware that some past students' thriller opening looked more like a trailer and that they lost marks for this. I will ensure not to make my opening seem like a trailer by remembering not to include most of these conventions, and instead research thriller opening sequences and gain knowledge of those conventions.
